Getting
a new job may be tough in this kind of competitive world where huge
number of graduates and post graduates are coming out of their
college each year. But there is always scope to get the job if you
can follow these 5 tips properly. Freshers should remember one thing,
“No Pain, No Gain”. So work hard till you reach your goal.
1.
Skill
Set vs Industry:
Every
job seekers first step in job hunt should be identifying their skill
sets rather than going in the direction of a wave. When global market
is in crisis and when there is hell lot of competition around,
individuals should think out of the box and concentrate more on your
skill sets rather than limiting yourself to a particular industry.
There
are lot of Industry sectors apart from IT industry. So try in other
industries as well specific to your studies.
2. Wish List (Companies to work for)
Make
a list of companies you want to work for and identify their
recruitment process or selection process and prepare in that
direction for interviews. Most of the job seekers always try to get a
job in MNC companies, of course MNC companies provides much better
facilities and pay than other companies. But there are many medium
and smaller companies out there which are very good at their level
and some companies are offering better packages than MNC companies.
So first try the companies in your wish list, if it doesn’t work
out then try in each and every company.
3. Try every where not only in Metros
A
lot of MNC are recruiting across the country, and not just the
metros. Tier II, tier III cities and rural markets have plenty of
opportunities and a lot of companies within the F&B and education
space have ambitious plans for such areas. One should not hesitate in
exploring such opportunities. Suppose if a walk in drive or off
campus drive is going on in some tier II city, you should try to
attend the interview. Be aware that these days some fraud companies
and colleges are conducting fake campus drives just to earn money
through entry fees.
4. Be Active on Social Networking Sites and Job Portals
Try
to be active on social networking websites and job portals, and meet
people if possible. I can see a lot of good Facebook groups and
pages are providing information about walk-in drives, off campus
recruitment drives across India. And even those pages or groups are
sharing much valuable information such as hiring process, pro’s and
con’s of the interview and also their interview experiences. So you
should be active on social media as well as job portals such as
GovtJobGuide.info
5. Specific Resume
You
should be more specific about your resume rather than just copying
others resume. Resume is your first impression to the employer. So
highlight your skills and your areas of expertise. Avoid overloading
your resume with lots of content. Be genuine while preparing your
resume and put the skills that are actually known to you.
